Both East Webster and Eupora qualified lifters for the Class 2A powerlifting championships.
The Class 2A north meet was held Saturday at East Union.
East Webster had two lifters advance to the Class 2A meet. K.T. Patterson finished first in the 123-pound weight class while Cam’ron Jennings finished first in the 308-pound weight class. Patterson finished tied with East Union’s Peyton Parker but one first on a tiebreaker. Patterson had a 280-pound squat, 175-pound bench and 365-pound deadlift. Jennings, who weighed in at 318 pounds finished first in the 308-pound plus weight class. Jennings had a 600-pound squat, 310-pound bench and 420-pound deadlift to finish first at 1,330 pounds.
Also from Eupora, Houston Medders finished with a 1,115-pound total in the 242-pound division. In the 220-pound division, Campbell Vaughn was fourth with a total of 1,145 pounds.
For Eupora, Edwin Herard will also be headed to the Class 2A finals in power lifting. Herard, a senior who has signed to play football at Holmes Community College, won the 198-pound weight class. Herard, who weighed in at 181 pounds and more than 10 pounds lighter than any of his competitors. Herard had a 545-pound squat, 275-pound bench press and 550-pound deadlift for a total of 1,365 pounds, which was 60 pounds better than his nearest competitor. Also for East Webster, Ben Bellew was fourth in the 148-pound division while Zach Langford and Caleb Massey were fifth and sixth in the 275-pound weight class with 1,155 and 1,045 pounds respectively.
The Class 2A State Championship powerlifting meet will be held at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Saturday, April 13.
