It’s on to the next level for French Camp football players Holman Edwards and Bradley McGlothin after a signing ceremony for the two seniors at the school.
Edwards, the Panthers’ do-everything quarterback, signed with East Central Community College. Kicking specialist McGlothin will attend Mississippi College in Clinton.
As a senior, Edwards led French Camp to a 7-5 record, throwing for 1,111 yards and 12 touchdowns and running for 778 yards and 15 TDS. He also played in the secondary on defense, with 35 tackles and four interceptions, and was named Most Valuable Player for Region 3-1A
Edwards was recruited by East Central as a quarterback and said he chose the school because he feels he can develop under head coach Ken Karcher.
Both quarterbacks who played for East Central last year were sophomores at the two-year school. The 20-member recruiting class includes one other quarterback, Deont’e Yarbrough of Louisville.
“He works hard and is a real leader. I expect him to do well,” French Camp coach Nathan Wright said of Edwards.
McGlothin handled the placekicking and punting chores at French Camp and was recruited as a placekicker by Mississippi College. His longest field goal for French Camp was 45 yards, but he has connected from 52 in practice.
“I loved the environment there. Every time I have been there it has been a great feeling,” McGlothin said of Mississippi College. He plans to major in business, then go to a seminary.
“He has a great attitude,” Wright said. “He’ll be coachable and he will be a great asset to Mississippi College.”
