East Webster basketball coach Jon Ginn knew both of his basketball teams had tough draws in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.
He was right to be concerned.
East Webster lost both opening-round games as the Lady Wolverines lost 63-53 to Walnut and the Wolverines fell 66-55 to Baldwyn.
The Wolverines finish the season with a 19-12 record while the Lady Wolverines finish with a 22-10 record.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 12-point lead and held on to take a 10-point win over the Lady Wolverines on Monday.
Walnut jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first period before East Webster outscored the Lady Wildcats 11-4 in the second to cut the lead to 24-19 at the half. Walnut extended the lead in the third period as they outscored East Webster 16-11 in the third to take a 40-30 lead into the fourth. Each team scored 23 points in the fourth for the final margin.
Whitney Winter led East Webster with 15 points while Kadasha Bryant had 14 points. Lauren Graves had 12 points while Isha Patterson had eight and Mariah Bell chipped in five.

The Bearcats started fast and held off a second-half rally by the Wolverines to take an 11-point win and end East Webster’s season.
Baldwyn jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first period and led 33-20 at the half. East Webster got back into the game in the third period as they outscored Baldwyn 22-15 in the third to cut the lead to 22-15. Baldwyn finished off the game by outscoring East Webster 18-13.
Sedrick Taylor led East Webster with 17 points while Carrin Townsend had 14 points. Keevon Patterson had 10 points and Reed Gatlin added nine points.
