East Webster and Eupora each had two lifters qualify for the Class 2A state powerlifting tournament.
For East Webster, K.T. Patterson finished first in the 123-pound weight class. He had a squat of 285 pound, 175 pounds on the bench and 360 pounds in the dead lift for a total of 820 pounds. In the 308-pound plus weight class, Rashad Hamilton finished second in his group. Hamilton had a 405-pound squat, 240-pound bench press and a 500-pound dead lift for 1,145 pounds total.
For Eupora, Edwin Herard finished second in the 181-pound weight class with a 1,280-pound total. Herard had a 515-pound squat, 260-pound bench press and 505-pound dead lift. In the 308-pound weight class, Parker Blaylock finished third with a total of 1,085 pounds. Blaylock had a 395-pound squat, 255-pound bench press and a 435-pound dead lift.
The Class 2A state powerlifting championships will be April 14 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
East Union narrowly won the event with a team score of 51 points while Union finished second with 50 points. East Webster had 15 points and Eupora had 12 points.
