While the Lady Tigers of Noxapater didn’t win either of their volleyball matches last week, head coach Pam Mills said the progress was evident.
“I thought my girls played very well against Amory,” Mills said. “They really played hard. I was really proud of that. Grace Christian beat us pretty badly, but we didn’t play poorly. They never quit and they worked hard the whole time.”
Noxapater lost 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 against Amory and 25-6, 25-8, 25-6 against Grace Christian.
“In the long run these tough matches are going to make us better,” Mills said. “It’s hard for the girls to go out and play against these more experienced teams, but we are going to get there.”
This week the Lady Tigers were set to host Choctaw County on Tuesday and visit West Lowndes on Thursday.
“We beat West Lowndes earlier in the year, but just because we beat them here, doesn’t mean we will beat them there. We have to go out and play our very best,” Mills said.
Lindsey Mills had an ace, spike and two points for the Lady Tigers against Amory, while Madison Riggs had a spike and two points. Jenna Wilkes and nona Wilkes each had blocks.
Nona Wilkes recorded three blocks and a save against Grace Christian, while Jenna Wilkes had a block and dig. Addy Webb had two saves and a point for Noxapater in the match, while Lindsey Mils had a save.
