Choctaw County cross country participated in the Northeast Lauderdale Invitational last week, with the varsity boys finishing ninth and the junior high boys first. Choctaw County did not have any girls runners.
Jared Bellew was the Chargers' top varsity runner, finishing 30th with a time of 22:18.10 for 5,000 meters. Jacob Miller was 66th in 27:03.5, followed by Landon Wells, 71st in 27:33; Micah Gamill, 72nd in 27:33.2; Kole Vowell, 75th in 28:55.4; Braden McGee, 87th in 30:37.9- and Carson Betts, 88th in 372:07.1.
Demopolis (Ala.) won the meet with the top three finishers.
Choctaw County easily won the junior high two mile race with five runners in the top 10 and 20 points to 43 for West Lauderdale.
Richard Fowler, a seventh grader, was fourth with a time of 13:37.2. He was followed by Hayden Tucker (fifth in 14:25.8), Brodie Arnault (sixth in 14:39.4), Jalon James (seventh in 14:40.5), Seth Miller (eighth n 14:41.7), Tate Miller (10th in 14:49.1), Allen Landrum (17th in 17:12.6), Jason Jones (18th in 17:14.7) and Anderson Chamblee (27th in 19:99.6).
Choctaw County will run Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Jackson, site of the state varsity and junior high meets.
