The Choctaw County softball team rebounded from a 15-8 loss to Starkville with a 12-11 victory over Louisville.
The Lady Chargers lost an earlier game to Louisville 15-11. “After losing to Louisville when we played at their place, our girls were motivated. They did not want to lose that matchup again.” said coach Lauren Fancher. “All week, I told them that they had to find a mean streak to get the job done. They found their fight and they refused to lay down when the going got tough.
“I was so proud of then for finishing. We really needed that win.”
Right fielder Maylee Hollis left the game with an injury. “Seventh grader Evee Stevens entered the game in Hollis' spot and laid down one of the most beautiful bunts with two strikes and two outs, not once but twice,” Fancher said.
Caden Miles had two hits and Jalia James and Stevens two RBIs each. Molly Thomas was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts.
In the Starkville game, Sierrra Jones had a single and double, drove in two runs and scored twice. Miles singled, double and drove in two runs.
The Lady Chargers were set to play Noxapater Monday and J.Z. George Tuesday.
