The Nanih Waiya Warriors pilled up three more wins this week including a pair of big division wins over Ethel.
The Warriors swept the Tigers, winning 14-4 on Tuesday and 9-8 on Friday. The Warriors finished the week with a 7-2 over Lake.
Nanih Waiya, now 12-1 on the year, will return to play this week as they travel to Noxapater on Tuesday and host the Tigers on Friday. The Warriors will travel to Choctaw County on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
Nanih Waiya 14, Ethel 4
The Warriors flexed their muscle at the plate as they took a run-rule win over the Tigers in a key division matchup.
Nanih Waiya scored early and often as they plated five in the first and third with two in the second for a 12-0 lead. Ethel scored four in the fourth while Nanih Waiya added one in the fourth and sixth innings.
Nanih Waiya outhit Ethel 19-6 in the contest as Memphis golf signee Jake Kight was 5-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Tanner Luke also had a big day as he went 4-for-5 with a double, home run, three runs scored and five RBIs. Coley Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Trevor Holdiness was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Tylan Glass was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases while Cody Clark had two RBIs.
Kight started on the mound and got the win as he gave up four unearned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out eight. Tatum Luke pitched the last inning and gave up one hit and had one strikeout.
Nanih Waiya 9, Ethel 8
The Warriors overcame an early deficit and scored four runs in the last two innings to take a one-run win over the Tigers on Friday.
The Warriors scored single runs in the first, fifth and seventh and three in the third and sixth innings.
The Warriors had eight hits, led by Coley Taylor who had a huge day, going 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and four RBIs. Jake Kight was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Tanner Luke was also 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Tanner Luke pitched all seven innings for the Warriors and picked up the win. Luke gave up eight runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out nine.
Nanih Waiya 7, Lake 2
The Warriors finally came away in the fifth inning and took a five-run win over the Hornets on Saturday.
Lake scored two in the third inning to take an early lead before the Warriors scored six in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Nanih Waiya outhit Lake 10-6 in the contest as Tylan Glass was 3-for-4 while Tatum Luke was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Tanner Luke continued his hot hitting and was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Devean Turner tripled and scored a run while Cody Clark and Coley Taylor each singled and scored a run.
Gabe Sciple picked up the win on the mound, going five innings and giving up two unearned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out t10. Taylor Higginbotham pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit and one walk while striking out three.
