WRITEON FOR AUG 14

Really? 680 folks raided at their workplaces leaving kids weeping on school steps scared to death?
What about the other people working in those factories, like one of my friends...I have several...who was so nervous when ICE crashed into her work site with guns and handcuffs...black uniforms...and on the very day El Paso was mourning it's Mexican/American/ Latino deaths. Really? What happened to 'welcome the stranger'? Most of those in sanitation were picked up in her factory...so unless they hire more folks they can't let their product out...so others working in the plant are having their hours cut...so many suffer from bad policy.
Hot and humid. That's the weather report.
In Cologne in 1929 Dorothee Sollee was born. She lived for 74 years. When she was 15, Dietrich Bonhoeffer the Lutheran pastor and theologian, was hanged by the nazis for his Christian commitment and her whole life took shape and meaning.
She, too, was a Lutheran (also referred to as a German Protestant Christian) and began her work for justice. Her home was anti-nazi one and after the war she discovered her father was ¼ Jewish. She posed many questions through the lens of her faith: tell us about suffering, poverty and meaning. One of her big questions was why does injustice exist? Then she said this:
“We want to bathe in the blood of the dragon and drink from the blood of the Lamb at the same time. But the truth is that we have to choose.”
BLESSINGS.
