We started spring with “The Story of Easter” on March 29 at the Maben Public Library.
This book tells of baby animals that are born during spring — birds, rabbits and ducks. Spring is a time when we remember what Jesus did for us. Jesus loves all of the children and moms and dads too. They loved him too and laid palm branches in his path.
Some men didn’t like Jesus so they put him on a cross. On the first Easter, an angel came and told them that Jesus had risen and is alive today! This made his friends very happy.
We celebrate Easter because Jesus lives and we go to church on Easter Sunday and sing about Jesus. Churches put steeples with crosses on them to remind us of Jesus’ love. Now on Easter you will know that Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life for us so that we can live too.
The children did two salt paintings with a little help from moms and grandmas, one of a cross and the other their name. They played with Play-Doh, checked out books and got a sucker.
