Jan. 9-15:
The week started out for everyone but Willie (he is imaginary) Willie’s family moved into the parsonage house. On the first day of school the teacher ask him how he liked it? Little Willie said, “Great, I have my own room, my brother has his own room, my sister has her own room but my mom and dad still share their own room.” Ha-ha.
Wednesday and Thursday was great with bingo, with Legacy Hospice bringing us some goodies, and Thursday makes for some good singings. Friday we had Men’s Club ... but women can come too. Whoever heard of a club with no women there? After lunch we had our community outreach meeting then supper.
Saturday and Sunday we had Poplar Springs and the New Gospel Singers. We enjoyed the weekend. The gospel singers had nice harmony and a drummer only 7 or 8 years old. That afternoon we had a lady play the piano for us and we just sang along. We sang all day it seemed. She can play by ear, and I don’t mean she puts her ear down on the piano to play.
Monday Mrs. Robin came for sharing the word and that afternoon we received some beautiful blankets by Gifts of Love brought over by Karen Collins. We love this every year. It was a great week.

Jan. 16-22:
Wednesday brought us Charles Huggins to sing . He sings both gospel and country. Later was our favorite, bingo, and Bible class with Mathiston Baptist Church and later that night prayer meeting.
Thursday was singing with the Heavenly Highway Singers in the morning and then after Mrs. Debra and Ms. Goldia. They always can get the room to dancing. Friday, oh how I love this day. Movie and THE POPCORN — ain’t life grand!
I remember when you could get a movie ticket and popcorn and soda for 10 cents,, Here it’s free! Friday night we have started something new where we the residents choose what activity to do and lead it.
Saturday and Sunday a few of us go out with family, maybe to church, shopping or out to eat. Saturday, Reform Chapel came in along with Rachel Jenkins and family. Pam Beaty came in late and played and sang. She is a great singer and player. Sunday Bro. Hill always comes in at 9:10 and Dr. Duncan leads our Sunday school at 9:45. Later at 2 Center Grove Baptist came in for our church service.
Monday we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We gathered in the activity room and listened to his speech. He changed a lot of people’s thinking and he done it peacefully.
Tuesday was Mull Sing-Along, some good singing that is. Later was our monthly birthday celebration. That Leslie Lee knows how to throw a good party.

Jan. 23-29:
Donnie Buckner came in and sang, and he always gives us an amazing performance with his pickin’ and grinnin’ and his message about the Lord. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was filled with some good singings, social and bingo. It was also Trivia Night and Exercise Night. I hold back on both. I’m trying to watch my figure and I really want to allow others to guess all those trivia questions. Ha-ha. Do you believe I have beachfront property in Arizona?
Ms. Nellie Long joined in on Thursday and played her harmonica; she does a great job. Friday we went to Uganda. Not that I want to visit there but it was very interesting. Then in the afternoon we got to taste some food that they may cook in Africa. We learned about missionaries that are serving there right from our neck of the woods. One is the Segers who serve in Uganda and one is the Phillips who serve in Kenya.
Saturday and Sunday brought some good services and singings. Sunday school we had 17 and he preached a good sermon. At 2 Bethel Baptist came in and done some good singing then we sat around all afternoon and talked. We appreciate churches for taking their time out and coming to visit with us.
Monday we had our semiannual memorial service for our friends that have passed away here. We invite the families back and hold a service in their memory. Kindred Hospice come to help us with this and Bro. Hill was our speaker. He always does a fine job.
Tuesday we had a good time with the ladies that come for Hymn Time. And 2 o’clock we had our annual staff Soup Cook-off. Emily Jonston won first place, Angela Ray came in second and Lee Ann Cooper third. It was all wonderful and a huge success; we love taste testing and voting every year. The low-card soup was the best actually; I was surprised myself too.
