With families around the world abiding by social distancing guidelines to curb the further spread of coronavirus, neighborhood "bear hunts" have become all the rage.
Taking a page from Michael Rosen's 1989 children's book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," homes and businesses have been placing teddy bears and other stuffed animals in their windows to create a scavenger hunt-esque activity for children who are stuck at home. They get the word out through Facebook.
While taking walks or drives around the neighborhood or town with their parents, children in Eupora and other communities have been having fun by keeping an eye out for any number of stuffed animals that have been put on display.
Spotting stuffed animals in windows, on front porches or anywhere they can be seen from the road is a nice distraction from the coronavirus conversation, and is a form of social distancing without social isolation.
Sharing this activity with neighbors has made bear hunters feel a greater sense of community and helps them communicate with other people while remaining safe in their family isolation.
