Maben Public Library storytime kicked off Friday with a nice crowd.
We read the story of “Chrysanthemum.” It’s about a mouse named Chrysanthemum that starts school. The children make fun of her name because it is so long. It scarcely fits on her name tag and she’s named after a flower.
Before going to school Chrysanthemum thought her name was perfect. That is because her mother and father thought it was perfect. The children at school gave her a hard time about her name until they got a new music teacher. Her name was Mrs. Twinkle. Everybody loved Mrs. Twinkle.
One day some of the girls were making fun of Chrysanthemum’s name and Mrs. Twinkle heard them. She told them she was named after a flower. Her name was Delphinium Twinkle.
After that Chrysanthemum thought her name was perfect again and all the girls wanted to be named after flowers. Jo said call her Marigold, Rita said she was Carnation and Victoria said her name is Lily of the Valley. All of these were names of flowers.
The children put flower petals on their names in glue and we sang the Name Game for each child. We had one to celebrate her birthday Friday by bringing cupcakes, Cheetos and drinks. Her name is Kaylyn Davis. She is 3 years old. Everyone was glad to be back and I have missed them.
We had several new ones so if you haven’t been coming, come join us each Friday at 10 a.m.
Friday we had Tripp and Welles Fouche, Vivie Halford, Waverly Collins, Lilli Cate Anderson, Kinsley and Jace Dodd, John Wyatt and Ansley Parker, Tyler Kay Bates, Mamie Norman, Carol Grace Anderson, Grae Sanford, Kaylyn Davis, Lydia, Mason and Sadie Thornton.
