The Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors played some competitive softball this past week.
The Lady Warriors opened with a 6-4 loss to Southeast Lauderdale on Tuesday but bounced back to take a 5-4 win over Eupora on Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors fell 8-6 to Morton in the first game but bounced back to take a 15-0 win against Leake Central in the second game.
Nanih Waiya will return to action this week when they travel to Sebastopol on Monday.
Southeast Lauderdale 6, Nanih Waiya 4
The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early leading held on to take a two-run win on Tuesday.
Southeast scored three in the first and fourth while Nanih Waiya scored one in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Southeast outhit Nanih Waiya 10-5. Gillion Eaves was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Morgan Mills singled and drove in two runs. Carlee Presley tripled and scored a run while Jaylee Stokes singled and scored a run.
Addison Price started in the circle and pitched on inning and gave up three runs on three hits and four walks. Mills pitched five inning in relief, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six.
Nanih Waiya 5, Eupora 4
The Lady Warriors built an early lead held on to take a one-run win over the Lady Eagles.
Nanih Waiya scored one in the first and second and then added three in the fifth to go up 5-0. Eupora then scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Nanih Waiya had five hits and took advantage of seven walks. Gillion Eaves was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Mackenzie Eaves walked twice, stole three bases, singled and scored a run.
Morgan Mills pitched all seven inning and gave up four unearned runs on 10 hits while striking out eight.
Morton 8, Nanih Waiya 6
The Lady Panthers scored late and took a two-run win over the Lady Warriors on Saturday.
Each team scored two in the first inning while Nanih Waiya scored three in the second. Morton answered with three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Nanih Waiya outhit Morton 12-6 but had five errors. Gillion Eaves continued her hot hitting, going 3-for-3 with a double. Mackenzie Eaves and Carlee Presley each singled and drove in two runs. Addison Price was 2-for-3 while Morgan Mills doubled and drove in a run.
Mills pitched all five innings and gave up eight runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three.
Nanih Waiya 15, Leake Central 0
The Lady Warriors scored early and often to take run-rule win over the Lady Gators on Saturday.
Addison Price started in the circle and picked up the win, striking out five in two innings.
McKenzie Eaves doubled for the Lady Warriors.
