At the meeting of the Louisville Municipal School Board of Trustees, on Monday, April 16, Superintendent Ken McMullan reported pay increases for all school district employees. These district pay supplements range from forty cents per hour for custodians and food service personnel to $500 for teachers.
Assistant Superintendent Kyle Hammond presented the Benchmark Data showing that overall the district is in a pretty good place, with the opportunity to add some points in the year-end assessments.
Sheriff Jason Pugh and Chief Deputy Keith Alexander discussed the results of recent walk-throughs at each school campus. The walk-throughs were designed to allow officers to become familiar with all of the school campuses, in the event of an active-shooter situation. Pugh stated that it was obvious a lot of time and thought had gone in to how to deal with different situations.
Members of the Winston County NAACP Education Committee addressed the Board thanking them for representing the citizens of Winston County. They did express concerns over not have a board meeting on the same day each month, and concerns that some board members favored certain schools over others.
Glen Haab, Executive Director of the Winston County Economic Development Partnership spoke about the results of the Winston County Labor Study.
Joey Henderson of JBHM Architects discussed ongoing projects, and received approval to reject bids to replace the roof of the vocational center.
In other action, the Board:
? Voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda which included:
? Approval to advertise for materials and supplies for the operation of schools for the 23018-2019 school year to include food service, instructional, janitorial, transportation, heating fuel and garbage collection.
? Approval of several staff resignations.
? Approval of staff recommendations for the 2018-2019 school year.
? Approval to add Sammy J. Holdiness and John W. Kight to the bus drive substitute list.
? Approval of Dr. Paul Stokes as Director of Curriculum and Professional Development.
? Approval of 2018-2019 federal funds in the amount of $40.607K for Special Populations/Student Services Coordinators and state funds in the amount of $383.709K for Vocational Administration, Guidance Counselors and Instructors for the Winston-Louisville Vocational Center.
? Voted unanimously to approve the Lawrence Estes residential lease from 2 acres to 1 acre in Center Ridge.
? Voted unanimously to approve the change of the Rodger and Rosa Garrard residential lease from 1 acre to 2 acres in Claytown.
? Voted unanimously to approve the cancellation of an expired .5 acre residential lease on Ellis Jordan and approve a new residential les of .5 acres for Marcilean Jordan on the same area in Center Ridge.
? Set the date of the next Board meeting for Monday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m.
