PERSONAL MENTION: Cotton was quoted yesterday at 7 and-a-half cents. - Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Rose of Alva spent Sunday with relatives here. - Mrs. L. C. Phillips has returned from a visit to relatives at Gordo, Ala. - Mr. Rube Lamb left Wednesday for Memphis to resume his course in medicine. - Mrs. J. T. Dunn, who has been indisposed for several days past, is much improved. - Mr. W. Nesbitt Darden of the Hernando Times-Promoter, was here last Sunday on a visit to his mother, Mrs. J. E. Darden. Mrs. Darden, accompanied by her daughters, Misses Pearl and Bessie, will leave Monday for Hernando, where she will join her sons and make that city her future home. - The PROGRESS is pleased to note the decided improvement in the condition of Dr. W. H. Arnold, who has been critically I for some weeks at his home in this place.
Mrs. S. C. Smith, who has been very sick for the past few months, lies in a dying condition at the home of her son, Mr. Richard Smith, and the end has been momentarily expected for the past two days. She was still alive this morning, but no hopes are entertained for her recovery.

GLENLYNN: Our young people enjoyed an entertainment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Therrell on the evening of Oct. 25th. - We are sorry to note the serious illness of our little friend Miss Lillie Gregg. - Misses Dora Spencer and Mary Therrell, who are attending Bellefontaine school, visited their home last 4th Sunday. They were accompanied by Misses Mae Heiflin and Bessie Stevens. - Mrs. Dora Shelton and her son, Leslie, returned to their home near Millport, Ala., on the 30th, after a few days visit to Mrs. Shelton’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gregg. - Misses Connie Pryor and Alice Gregg left last Sunday to open their respective schools at Ship and Denton, Miss.
HOHENLINDEN: Miss Florence Foster left last Sunday to take charge of her school below Cumberland. – The harvesting season is almost over; the farmers have certainly had a nice time in which to gather their crops. - Miss Viola Womack left Monday for Big Creek community to assume the duties of teacher of the school there. There are others who will take up their school on next Monday. - Miss Rena May Logan visited her grandfather, Col. N. B. Crawford, last Sunday. - Mrs. Kirby and daughter visited the former’s brother, Mr. R. P. Coburn, Sunday.
AROUND SHIP: School opened Monday with a very good attendance. - Mrs. B. Johnson, whose home is in the Delta, is now visiting friends and relatives in this community. - J. W. Dill was the guest of W. A. Johnson Sunday. - Pink Wood visited at Mrs. A. B. Waits Sunday evening. - We are sorry to learn of the illness of little Lexie, the young son of Mrs. Lena McCain. We hope for his speedy recovery.
