FROM NEIGHBORING COUNTIES: Mrs. Lucy Polson, 69, a highly respected Christian lady of Kilmichael, died a few days since at her home in that place. The deceased had been an invalid for some years. - Choctaw county Confederate Veterans celebrated their annual reunion at South Union camp ground, three miles west of Ackerman, last Friday. About one thousand people were present and addresses were had from a number of prominent men from different sections of the state.

SHIP: We are having some very warm and dry weather just now. - Some of our farmers have already begun picking cotton. - The singing convention at Mt. Zion was attended by several hundred people Friday and Saturday. - Mr. Tom Wood is very sick at this writing. - Mr. Ed. Mobley of near Stewart is on the sick list this week. - Another mad dog was killed in this community last week. We hope this will be the last one. - Mrs. Joe Kellum, who has been quite sick, is improving in condition.
IN MEMORIAM: On August 7th, 1902, little Luther McCain, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCain, of this community, passed from this sinful world to a better one above, aged four years, ten months, and six days. For one week he struggled between life and death. Sadly, indeed, will he be missed; no more will his sweet childish voice be heard; no more will those bright smiles beam forth to cheer those who loved him.
TOWN AND COUNTY: Mr. Lee Harpole has returned from a visit to relatives in Winona. - Assessor Jno. Harvey has been on the sick list the past few days. - Miss Roxie McKee returned Sunday from a week’s visit to Bellefontaine. - Col. Tobe Dunn spent Monday in Chester, Choctaw county, attending circuit court. - Mr. W. T. Gwin is teaching a singing school in the northern part of the county this week. - Miss Maggie Courtney of Hohenlinden is spending a week or two in town with her sister, Mrs. Harvey Byars. - Capt. Louis Walburg of Columbus passed through Eupora Saturday, enroute to Calhoun county, where he is on a visit to his friend, Mr. Wm. Connor. - Mrs. M. W. Sharp leaves tomorrow for a week’s visit to relatives in Columbus. While there she will attend the annual camp meeting at the Tabernacle near that place. - Messrs. Joe Hollingsworth, Wood Harpole, and Chas. Johnson and Misses Genie Harpole and Edna Fondren attended church at Mt. Zion.

- Messrs. J. R. DuBerry, J. W. Buchanan, Albert Eudy and Everett Ford of this place and Sheriff DeLashmet of Walthall, left Monday for a week’s piscatorial sport at Blue Lake, near Itta Bena.
