Mr. J. J. Carter and wife and Mrs. M. E. Fair of French Camp visited the family of Hon. S. R. Hughston this week. - The public will take notice that E. S. Ray at Chester keeps constantly on hand a general line of coffins at reasonable rates. - Remember that Blumenfeld and Fried will have on exhibition at their store on Friday, March 23rd, a full line of silk waists and silk waist patterns. - Mr. C. C. McCafferty, one of the wealthy young farmers of Choctaw, handed us the cash this week and now he is among the ever-widening circle of the RECORD readers. Judge C. H. Campbell and Hons., J A. Davis and J. S. Smith of Kosciusko, Hon. J. W. Barron of Aberdeen, Maj. J. W. Pinson of Chester and Hon. L. H. Hopkins of Louisville were visiting attorneys at Chancery Court this week. - Mesdames M. E. Lawrence, Columbus, S. E. Willingham, Tuscaloosa, Ala., W. L. Neal, West Point, T. W. McCoy, Arcadia, La., J. A. Leech, Okalona, A. C. Dotson, Sturgis, Wm. Douglass, Nep Woods, Columbus, visited their sisters, Mrs. W. T. Hunt and Mrs. J. D. Fulcher, this week. Col. W. B. Mosely is one among the number to hand in the cash for this paper as we enter upon the second year of its existence. Col. Mosely is perhaps the wealthiest farmer in Choctaw county and among its brainiest and biggest hearted citizens and in enrolling the name of such a man we feel encouraged to fight with vigor on.
It was our pleasure while in Chester last Tuesday to be shown through the store of E. S. Ray. Mr. Ray is a splendid merchant and successful business man. He keeps constantly on hand a full and complete line of general merchandise. His shelves are crowded with such things as the public needs. Mr. Ray, besides a full assortment of a general line, keeps constantly on hand for sale a general line of coffins which he sells at reasonable terms.
Hon. J. S. Smith, a former citizen of Choctaw County and now a prominent Attorney of Kosciusko, was in attendance upon Chancery Court this week. Mr. Smith’s friends have frequently associated his name with the Chancellorship in the event that Hon. A. H. Byrd is elected to Congress in his district.
We are in receipt of a letter from Mr. Will P Turnipseed, now located at Cameron, Texas, enclosing one dollar cash in advance for the RECORD to be sent to his address. In his letter Will says he is located at a good town, among a good people, and also that he would like to see some of his friends from Mississippi out there. He is a son of our county treasurer, J. M. Turnipseed, is of the right kind of stock and will do well out in the “Lone Star.” Here’s a double health and much success to you, Will.
