MATHISTON — “Alone, we can do so little, Together, we can do so much.” Helen Keller
These words by Helen Keller could very well describe the 2019 Mathiston Mulberry Fall Festival, which was Nov. 8 and 9. For, several people got together weeks ahead and planned this event.
Many people from many places were in town for the festival Friday night, Nov. 8, which was a cool night. Many vendors had already set up and people were seen there enjoying all the festivities.
A band from Houston, Pinson Square, provided entertainment Friday night. The band sang and played many songs that were enjoyed by people sitting around the stage.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, several other vendors had moved into the festival in the Mathiston Park, and more people.
Heather Forster and Barb McCants, who were at the registration booth, said 41 vendors were present Saturday. They said these included many local vendors, plus some from Booneville, Coila and Water Valley.
More groups were entertaining on Saturday. There were also some activities for the children and many of them could be seen enjoying them.
An interesting car show was held near the Mathiston City Hall and a Brunswick stew by the Mathiston Fire Department sold out early.
Forster, McCants and the others putting on this event appreciated all the vendors and entertainers, and all the people who came out.
Thanks to these people who planned this event, and the mayor and city board of Mathiston for doing like Helen Keller said and worked together to make this event a success.
