“Don’t just count your years, make your years count.” — Ernest Meyers
Those words could well describe Joann Skelton Williams, wife of Louis W. “Red” Williams of Maben, who celebrated her 80th birthday April 7.
“Miss Joann,” as she is known to her many friends, along with her husband, “Mr. Red,” are active in Maben First Baptist Church and in other activities in the town and area. They can be found many days in the week visiting some sick people in the area and in the area nursing homes.
What was planned to be a quiet celebration at the Williams home on Second Avenue turned into a big day for Miss Joann and Mr. Red. Many of their family and friends came by to help them celebrate, and many people sent cards, which she cherished.
The celebration did not end that day, but carried on the next day, as the family of Louis Williams placed the flowers on the altar at Maben First Baptist Church in her honor. What a legacy for this lady and her family.
“Happy birthday,” Miss Joann.
