Sunday, June 3 , after the Mississippi United Methodist Conference in Jackson ended, the Maben church learned it had a new pastor assigned to it.
The Rev. Rodney Glover from Caledonia has been appointed to serve the Maben church in Oktibbeha County and the Lagrange United Methodist Church in Choctaw County, which was added to the Maben charge a few years ago by the conference.
Glover is no stranger to these churches by any means, as he has been one of a team to fill in at these churches the last few months.
Glover was born in Tennessee in 1953, and in only a few years, his family was able to move back to Columbus, where both sides of his family lived.
He graduated from New Hope High School and attended Mississippi State University.
He was in the Navy for years and worked in the monument business for a time, including work with Columbus Monument Co.
His interests, for many years, have been motorcycling, scuba diving and flying, all of which have been given up for the sake of longevity.
His wife is Cathy Glover, and they have one son, Arthur, who lives in Nashville.
Having been married for 41 years, they are looking for many more together.
He has many goals as pastor of Maben-Lagrange churches, but among them are preaching God’s love, and care and concern for the wishes of the members of these churches.
Services at the Maben-Lagrange churches are informal and anyone would always feel welcome.
