A section of Mississippi 9 between Eupora and Ackerman has been closed to repair a land slide.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said persistent rainfall caused the land slide along state Highway 9 between Ackerman and Eupora about 6 miles north of state Highway 12 in Choctaw County.
The emergency highway closure began Friday, according to a release from MDOT. The highway is closed to through traffic between Reform-Sturgis Road and state Highway 790.
Warning signs are in place. A detour will be in place using U.S. Highway 82, state Highway 15 and Highway 12.
The highway will remain closed until MDOT engineers can determine the severity of the slide and formulate a repair plan.
