A uniquely entertaining basketball show is coming to the Noxapater High School gym on Saturday, Nov. 23 when the Harlem Dreams take on a local team of all-stars.
Event promoter Becky Hamilton, who is Vice President of the Noxapater PTA, said the event is being held in order to raise funds to purchase uniforms and equipment for the Noxapater High School boys and girls basketball programs.
The Harlem Dreams play the game in the same vein of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters, bringing family fun and entertainment to the game they love. Among those playing for the Noxapater All-Stars in the game will be Superintendent of Education Randy Grierson, Noxapater girls coach Rena Hickman, Noxapater principal Chet Wilkes, and Louisville Mayor Will Hill.
Tickets to the event, which starts at 7 p.m., are $10 in advance or $13 at the door. VIP tickets, which allow ticket-holders to attend a meet and great with the Harlem Dreams at 5:30 p.m., are available for $20.
Hamilton said she was also looking for sponsors to help pay for the tickets for each of the 400 students enrolled at Noxapater Attendance Center. She said some sponsors are taking care of certain classes or grades, while others are contributing money to be spread out wherever needed.
She said the gym has a capacity of 750, so that leaves 350 tickets to be sold to the general public.
Businesses or individuals wishing to be a sponsor or purchase individual tickets can do so by contacting Pam Parker or Chet Wilkes at 662-724-4241.
