Four lifters from Choctaw County competed in the boys 3A South State powerlifting meet, but none qualified for the state meet.
The top three from the North State and the South State meets qualified for the state meet that will be held April 21 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
For Choctaw County, Royce Mosley, a seventh grader, competed in the 114 weight class at the South State meet, Dejuan Woods, an eighth grader, competed at 132, sophomore Israel Whitmore at 220 and junior Julius Buggs at 275.
At the Region 3-3A meet, Mosley finished third for the 114 weight class with a total of 445 pounds for the squat, bench press and dead lift. Woods was third with 665 pounds, Whitmore second with 1,220 pounds and Buggs second with 1,175 pounds.
The Choctaw County girls powerlifting team did not have any competitors at the South State meet.
French Camp Academy does not have powerlifting teams.
