Fire destroyed the Mantee home of the Rev. Sammy and Sarah Brown on May 15.
The Mantee Fire Department was dispatched to the house fire at 267 Hunters Run Road about 2:30 p.m.
When Mantee units arrived the structure was fully in engulfed in flames. They immediately started a defensive attack to protect surrounding outbuildings and prevent the fire from further spreading to neighboring residences according to Fire Chief David Brand.
He said the structure was a total loss. One occupant, the Browns’ son, was the only person home at the time and was able to get out of the house and save a small dog, Brand said.
“Thankfully there were no injuries at the scene,” he said. “Everyone did an excellent job working the fire.”
Brand thanked the members of Cumberland FD for responding to assist with its engine and manpower. All FD units cleared the scene at 7:55 p.m.
The Browns’ granddaughter, Amber Colvin, has organized a donation campaign on crowdwise.com — “House fire relief for the Brown family.”
