May 29-June 4
Wednesday we started it off right. Mr. Charles Huggins came with his wife, Louise. They have been married for 53 years. He is a deacon of First Baptist in Vaiden and she is a teacher. He is retired from NAPA. They live in Vaiden and come see us and sing once a month, real nice folks.
Bingo was that afternoon; it’s always a treat and the room is always FULL. We all help each other in there too, especially if someone needs help.
Heavenly Highway gave us a great time of singing and later that afternoon, Mrs. Debra and Ms. Goldia sang it up. They had some backup singers, Ms. Helen Greenlee and Roe (That’s what I call him. I mean no disrespect and consider him my friend). I think his real name is Rochester.
Friday bought Popsicles on the porch, I thought they were going to run out before I got one it was so many folks. I just wonder where all these folks are when there isn’t a treat?
I am so blessed and thankful for all the nurses and CNAs that take the time to talk to me. Sure makes the day better. I also have some great family. I got to out to a family reunion on my wife’s side Saturday. I didn’t get to go last year so that was real nice.
I also had a nice surprise. The activity director read to the residents one of my biographies that was published in the Oxford So & So. That was neat.
Don’t forget about Willie. When he was about 70 him and an old friend were walking by the lake. Willie picked up a frog and the frog started talking. The frog told him, “ f you will kiss me I will turn into a beautiful princess and the most beautiful woman you ever saw.”
Willie stuck the frog in his pocket. His friend said, “Why did you put it back in your pocket? Why don’t you kiss the frog?” Willie said, “At my age I will have a lot more fun with a talking frog.”
On a side note I have a CNA who does a fantastic job. Her name is Jordan Godfrey. I never have to ask her for anything; they are always waiting on my bed. She even knows when I need to shave. The supplies are always waiting on me. Thank you Jordan.
