Oct. 1-28
October started out wonderfully with Tomnolen Baptist youth and kids coming to plant our flowers in the flower beds.
We love this so much and we appreciate it so much. They also built us some wooden flower boxes. These boxes are so nice! The parents that helped were Kristy Dean and her brother Scott. Also Chelsea Smith. They just handed them over and the kids went to town. I gave them some entertainment while they planted, played a few songs on the guitar.
The weekend brought Victory Baptist Church and I got to see a favorite nurse of mine, Nicole March. She participates in everything with us and wheels us to activities. A real good nurse she is. She is married to her husband of 14 years and they have six kids. I used to see her often when I lived on A side, so I enjoy when she comes to activities.
Later in the month we carved our pumpkins and decorated them. That was a fun day!
Another employee I would like to mention is Danielle Sealle. She works in the therapy department but often you will also see her wheeling us up and down where we need to go. She helps in activities too. She has been working in the therapy department for 2½ years. Another one following in her footsteps is Dakota Vowell, another therapist we have. She lives in Philadelphia and went to Mississippi State. She is really good!
We also got together and wrote the pastors some appreciation notes since October is Pastor Appreciation Month. We do want to tell all of our area churches and individuals that come to see us here. We appreciate you all!
That next Sunday Brother Tim Hudson came in to sing. I really like the way he plays and sings. Monday we had our annual Boiled Peanuts Social; it was good. Personally I like them parched but boiled peanuts are good too. But I’m picky, ha-ha (probably cause they spoil me here).
Later in the week we had a special guest from one of our resident’s sister. Ms. Nadine Wilson’s sister came in to visit us as “Minnie Pearl” and she put on quite the show. We all laughed and laughed. She could definitely pull Minnie Pearl off. She even forgot to pull off her price tag on her hat!
For a few months the Leslies have had us “visit” a new country each month. This month was England. It was very interesting to listen to some facts. I have visited there myself when I was boxing in my younger years and in the military. They really are friendly there.
Later that afternoon we had an “afternoon tea.” We even had to hold our pinky fingers out when we drank the tea. Friday night Robert Goodwin came in and sang and played us a few songs. We appreciate him so much.
Some residents were able to go to Lake Tiak O’Khata this month. It’s always a fun time for us, I went last year so I let someone else go this year. They said they had a fine meal and enjoyed sitting out at the lake . I heard they had some fantastic weather. That’s good. I hear its about to change.
