March 27-April 1
We started this week off with Donnie Buckner. He knows how to give a show.
At 2 o’clock we had our weekly bingo, but today it’s Dollar Day. The VFW sponsors this once a month. We love it and we thank them so much.
Later was Bible study with Mathiston First Baptist. At supper Leslie came in and asked us some trivia questions. We racked our brains and answered most. We have smart and knowledgeable people in here.
Thursday the Heavenly Highway Singers came in and then the Emmanuel Baptist Community Choir came in and did an amazing job. They are form Grenada.
Everyone knows what Friday brings: Mary Lee staying busy in the beauty shop. She really can fix us up good!
I would like to explain myself. I will not write about sickness and death in my writing ( I may tell a sick joke, ha-ha) and if you want to read about death then that’s on Page 3 of the Webster Progress.
I just want the readers to know of our life here. It is a good life for the older generation. We have entertainment thanks to all the staff that help with that.
We have our own doctors, nurses and CNAs, housekeepers, cooks and therapist. They cook our meals, keep us up to date on our appointments, help us stay clean and clean our rooms. They catch us up on the local and world news, and we also get to vote just like you. What more could you ask for? Some even have girlfriends and boyfriends!
Sunday Bro. Hill started us out and Dr. Duncan with Sunday school. Our numbers are rising for Sundays and we are so thankful. At 2 o’clock we had a church reschedule. No problem, Jerry Helms stepped in and gave us a fine singing and the Word.
Have you been worrying about Willie, the pastor’s son? He is now married and their only car started knocking. Willie asked his wife if she bought regular or premium gas.
She said, “I can’t remember.” Willie said, “You probably got the cheaper gas. That will make the engine run rough.” “No!” she hollered. “The gas wasn’t any cheaper!”
“Well, how much did it cost?” Willie asked. His wife answered, “It cost the same as usual. I got $20 worth.” Hah
Monday the community singers came and did their fine harmony. I sat by one of them and listened to their fine harmony. Then to their surprise it is Volunteer Appreciation Month. The Leslies had them a thank-you gift for their service. That afternoon was our resident council meeting; that is always fun!
Tuesday The Mulls sing-a-long came and it’s always fun to sing with them.
