The decision to rent or buy a home can be a challenging one for anyone looking to move.
Rankings released March 15 in a study produced by SmartAsset, a financial technology company, found that Webster County was among the top 10 best places to own a home in Mississippi.
The study compared the total costs of buying and renting a typical home or rental in each county across the nation for a household earning $100,000 a year. SmartAsset then calculated the break-even point in the buy vs. rent decision – the point at which the total costs of renting become greater than the total costs of buying.
The counties with the shortest time to break even were the best places to buy, and Webster County came in at No. 5 in Mississippi.
The study gives the average monthly mortgage payment here as $547, the average monthly rent as $848 and the average home price as $139,990.
