SALTILLO – Choctaw County closed out spring football practice playing half games against Saltillo and Senatobia,.
“Overall, it was a great team effort,” said coach Ben Ashley.
The Chargers defeated Saltillo, a 5A school, 12-6 and tied Senatobia, a 4A school 6-6. Choctaw County plays in MHSAA Class 3A.
Ashley was especially pleased with the play of quarterback Tylan Cater, who will be sophomore in the fall. “He threw the ball exceptionally well. He ran our offense exceptionally well. He looks like a guy who belongs there. There was no stage fright or anything like that.”
Ashley said the secondary looked good and spring practice has created offensive line depth.
The Chargers are coming off a a 10-3 season that included the championship of MHSAA Region 4-3A and a trip to the third round of the playoffs. The scheduled 2018 opener is against Nanih Waiya.
Prior to then, Ashley wants his players to spend time in the weight room.
