The Webster County School Board has approved administrators and departments for the next school year.
Board members did so Feb. 15, according to minutes of that meeting. They voted to approve Superintendent Brian Jones ’ recommendation to approve these administrators and departments heads for 2018-19:
Jim Ray, East Webster High School principal; Kim Stallings, East Webster Elementary School principal; Chip Powell, Eupora Elementary School principal; Michael Adkins, Career and Technology Center director, and transportation director; Chris Shea, technology coordinator; Kim Jones, maintenance director; Sue Anne Boatman, federal programs director/district test coordinator/curriculum coordinator; Amy Rollins, food service director; and Angela Avent-White, business manager.
Additionally, Technology Director Chris Shea discussed the need for improved security measures for the district’s internet, the minutes show. Jones recommended Fortinet as the provider for this service based on Shea’s recommendation, which the board approved.
Jones presented an attendance and discipline report for each school for the school year to date. He also addressed the board on matters of security on the district school campuses and is to look into improving security on all campuses, according to the minutes.
The minutes also reflect that President Bobby McMullen notified the board that a superintendent evaluation needed to be completed. The board completed the evaluation as a group.
Principal Kim Stallings introduced East Webster Elementary School student Brenlee Clark as the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for February.
Other Action
Other action taken by the board on Feb. 15:
• Approved a job description for Alternative School director.
• Accepted a letter of resignation from Cynthia Hillhouse indicating she is retiring from her position as guidance counselor at East Webster High School effective June 30.
• Accepted a letter of resignation from Tammy Neal indicating she is retiring from her position as teacher at Eupora High School effective June 30.
• Approved principals’ recommendations of Jill Roberson as a long-term substitute teacher at East Webster Elementary School beginning Nov. 14, 2017, and of Drew Gray as a long-term substitute at Eupora Elementary School beginning Jan 29, 2018.
• Approved requests for the Eupora High School senior class, Interact Club and Biology Club to go on field trips to Georgia, Memphis, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama, respectively.
• Approved a request for the EHS senior class to sell doughnuts as a fundraiser to help finance their senior trip.
• Accepted a donation of $2,461.50 from the East Webster High School Athletics Booster Club to the EWHS Activities Fund.
The board was to also meet March 19 and its next regular meeting is April 9.
