The Webster County Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution regulating the hauling of wood products.
The board adopted the resolution providing for the regulation of hauling wood products in Webster County on Monday. The motion by Randy Rico (District 3) and seconded by Eudy Morris (District 1) was approved 4-0; Paul Crowley (District 4) was unable to attend.
The resolution in final form was not immediately available but is to include a $250 fine for non-compliance, according to the discussion. Details of the resolution will be included in a forthcoming article and in a legal notice that must be published three times before the regulations take effect.
Also Monday, Phillip Lewis of NetComm Wiring and architect Adam Haver of JH&H Architects reviewed proposed bid specifications for security equipment at the new courthouse under construction in Walthall. No action was taken.
After a presentation by insurance agent Sandra Dewberry and Derrick Surrette, executive director of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors, the board voted to accept a quote from the MAS Insurance Trust in the amount of $89,705 for renewal of the county’s property and liability insurance for one year effective April 1. MASIT is a property and casualty insurance pool.
In other business Monday, the board voted to:
• sign a security agreement with First Commercial Bank, which is financing the courthouse project though a loan to the Golden Triangle Public Buildings Leasing Corp. to provide funds for the county’s acquisition of the project. The board previously signed such an agreement with the Bank of Kilmichael, which is partnering with the other bank to finance the project.
• accept a low bid from Netcomm Wiring for voice and data cabling at the new courthouse at a lump-sum price of $20,300 for the services.
• accept low bid from Circle J Lawn Care for grass cutting at five county-owned locations at a lump-sum price of $115 for the services.
• hire Kayla Liggins as a part-time jailer.
• remove Justin Pittman from the roster of part-time 911 dispatchers, effective March 1, and hire Alisha Cole as a part-time dispatcher, effective March 23.
• designate an unmarked vehicle for the sheriff’s office for undercover purposes.
• amend the District 5 Bridge Fund budget.
The board recessed until 8:30 a.m. March 30.
