This past Thursday morning, at around 10:30, Winston Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a tip concerning a suspect in a shooting that took place in Attala County.
The suspect, Ryan Steed, 21 years of age, allegedly shot a female subject then made his way to Louisville.
The tip reported that Steed had been seen at the Louisville Walmart, and WSO officers responding in unmarked vehicles were able to take him into custody without incident; a firearm believed to be the one used in the shooting was recovered from the suspect.
Sheriff Jason Pugh stated that Steed has been transported to Attala County, however there are possible charges here in Winston and Pugh has placed a hold on him.
Officers involved in the arrest were Pugh, and deputies Keith Alexander, Lester Holdiness, Connie Hampton, and Dept. of Corrections Officer Scott Smith.
A $100,000 bond was set, and as of Tuesday, Steen remained in custody in the Leake County jail, according to Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail, and details of the shooting remain under investigation.
“We have an idea of what happened, but we aren’t releasing that at this time,” Nail stated Monday morning. “We’re also waiting to see what her condition will be.”
