In a recessed meeting held on Tuesday, May 14, Mayor Will Hill recommended to the Board of Aldermen that Sean Holdiness be appointed as the next Chief of Police of the City of Louisville. Hill pointed out that five candidates were interviewed for the position, and the decision to recommend Holdiness was difficult due to the quality of the other candidates.
Holdiness is a veteran of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and has extensive military experience, as well. Hill stated that he did not know Holdiness before this process began, but after talking with those who know him well there were several qualities that recommend him; loyalty, integrity, a commanding presence, but a compassionate heart.
Following a short discussion, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Holdiness to the position.
In other business, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to adopt a resolution appointing Mayor Hill as voting delegate and Mayor Pro-Tem Eugene Crosby as first alternate of the Mississippi Municipal League.
• Voted 5-0 to approve payment to Falcon Contracting for two final invoices in the amount of $125K.
• Voted 5-0 to authorize a change order with Burks-Mordecai Builders in the amount of $3.3K for general construction.
The Louisville Board of Aldermen meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m.
