A section of Mountain Road, between Weir Panhandle Road and McCool Highpoint Road, is closed due to damage that occurred during the torrential rains almost three weeks ago.
According to District 4 Supervisor, John Shumaker, a metal, four-foot culvert caved in during the downpour. Shumaker stated that the culvert was rusted and they were unaware of how bad the situation was until the collapse. No one was injured in the mishap.
Shumaker added that a lot of water came through the culvert, and it was not big enough to handle all of the rainfall. It will be replaced with a new five-foot culvert, and repairs should begin soon.
