The Nanih Waiya track season ended before it even began. Head coach Paul Courtney said some of the athletes had begun working out but that the real work was going to begin after spring break.
And of course, the school never reopened due to the Coronavirus pandemic and all spring sports have been canceled by the MHSAA.
“We really just focus on getting ready for the district meet, which was scheduled for Winona,” Courtney said. “We were really going to be young but we had a couple guys returning who had been successful.”
He said he expected Trey McMullen to have much success in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter events and also expected good things from intermediate hurdler Ethan Dailey.
“I was really looking forward to working with the young runners,” Courtney said. “We have a good promising group of seventh grade girls that I was hoping for big things out of of.”
