It was another tough week for the Nanih Waiya basketball teams, but the Lady Warriors did manage to pull out a win this past week.
The Lady Warriors took a 48-42 win over Hamilton on Tuesday in their only win of the week. They were swept in a pair of games against Philadelphia.
The Warriors weren’t as fortunate as they lost 48-44 to Hamilton and dropped a pair of decisions to Philadelphia, falling 50-29 and 39-29.
Nanih Waiya will host Newton this week and then play at Lake on Friday in the regular-season finale. The Division 5-2A Tournament will be Lake the following week.
Philadelphia girls 49, Nanih Waiya 27
The Lady Tornadoes outscored the Lady Warriors in each of the first three periods and took a 22-point win on Monday.
Philly led 7-3 at the end of the first before outscoring Nanih Waiya 22-7 in the second and leading 20-19 at the half. Philly took the third period 10-7 and each team scored seven points in the fourth period.
Nyshea Hoskin led Nanih Waiya with seven points while Angel Clemmons had six points and Morgan Mills added five points.
Philadelphia boys 50, Nanih Waiya 29
The Tornadoes outscored the Warriors in each of the first three periods and took a 21-point win.
Philly led 17-8 at the end of the first period and then outscored Nanih Waiya 13-5 in the second and led 30-13 at the half. Philly took the third period 12-8 and each team scored eight points in the fourth.
Eli Stanton, Jake Vick, and Preston Prewitt each had eight points apiece for Nanih Waiya.
Nanih Waiya girls 48, Hamilton 42
The Lady Warriors pulled away in the fourth period and took a six-point win over the Lady Lions on Tuesday.
Hamilton led 9-5 at the end of the first before Nanih Waiya outscored the Lady Lions 14-8 in the second and led 19-17 at the half. Hamilton took the fourth period 19-16 to retake the lead at 36-35 going to the fourth. Nanih Waiya then outscored Hamilton 13-6 in the fourth to take the win.
Nyshea Hoskin led Nanih Waiya with 19 points while Morgan Mills had 11 points and Zandy Eiland chipped in 10 points.
Hamilton boys 48, Nanih Waiya 44
The Lions started fast in each half and used that advantage to take a four-point win on Tuesday.
Hamilton led 13-10 at the end of the first and the Warriors outscored the Lions 9-5 in the second and led 19-18 at the half. But Hamilton outscored Nanih Waiya 16-10 in the third and led 34-29. Nanih Waiya took the fourth period 15-14 for the final margin.
Eli Stanton led Nanih Waiya with 16 points while Preston Prewitt had 15 points.
Philadelphia boys 39, Nanih Waiya 29
The Tornadoes pulled away in the second half and took a 10-point win over the Warriors on Thursday.
Philly led 7-5 at the end of the first and Nanih Waiya took the second 9-8 and trailed 15-14 at the half. But the Tornadoes outscored the Warriors 13-7 in the third and 11-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Preston Prewitt led Nanih Waiya with 10 points while Jake Vick had eight points.
