The Nanih Waiya basketball teams continue to struggle down the stretch as they finished out the regular season with a pair of losses.
The Lady Warriors lost 52-28 to Newton on Tuesday and then finished with a 60-28 loss to Lake on Friday.
The Warriors also struggled as they lost 65-36 to Newton and then finished with a 55-28 loss to Lake.
The Nanih Waiya girls will take on Philadelphia on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lake while the boys will take on Lake at 7:30 p.m.
Newton girls 52, Nanih Waiya 28
The Lady Tigers dominated the first period and cruised to a 24-point win over the Lady Warriors.
Newton jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first period while Nanih Waiya took the second period 10-9 to cut the lead to 25-12 at the half. Newton then pulled away in the second half and outscored Nanih Waiya 13-8 in the third and 14-8 in the fourth.
Newton boys 65, Nanih Waiya 36
The Tigers pulled away in the middle two periods to take a 29-point win over the Warriors on Tuesday.
Newton led 8-6 at the end of the first period before outscoring Nanih Waiya 18-8 in the second to lead 26-14 at the half. Newton then outscored Nanih Waiya 21-9 in the third and 18-13 in the fourth to take the win.
Eli Stanton led Nanih Waiya with 11 points while Briceton Boler had nine points. Mason Boyd also chipped in six points.
Lake girls 60, Nanih Waiya 28
The Lady Hornets had little trouble with the Lady Warriors as they took a 32-point win to wrap of division play and finish the regular season with a 17-9 record.
Lake outscored Nanih Waiya in every period as they outscored the Lady Warriors 13-10 in the first and 19-8 in the second to lead 32-18 at the half. Lake then outscored Nanih Waiya 23-7 in the third to extend the lead to 55-25 going to the fourth. Lake took the fourth 5-3 for the final margin.
Nyshea Hoskin led Nanih Waiya with eight points while Zandy Eiland had six points.
Lake boys 55, Nanih Waiya 28
The Hornets pulled away in the second half and took a 27-point win over the Warriors.
Lake led 12-7 at the end of the first period but Nanih Waiya outscored the Hornets 10-7 in the second to cut the lead to 19-17 at the half. But the Hornets got rolling in the third and outscored the Warriors 19-4 to take a 38-21 lead into the fourth. Lake continued to extend its lead in the fourth and outscored Nanih Waiya 17-7 for the final margin.
Bryce Boler led Nanih Waiya with nine points while Jake Vick had eight points. Eli Stanton had six points while Mason Boyd added five points.
