After a promising start to the season with a 32-20 win over Southeast Lauderdale, the Noxapater Tigers have fallen on hard times against a pair of unbeaten football teams.
On Friday night, it was East Webster who had almost 500 yards of total offense and cruised to a 47-0 win.
Noxapater falls to 1-2 on the season and will play at winless Okolona this week.
Second-year coach Caleb Kelly didn’t have much to say after being beaten badly for the second straight week.
“We never could get in an offensive rhythm and had no answer defensively,” Kelly said. “This is lost is a direct result of desire to win and that begins with me as the head coach. We have work to do. The only positive I saw was we had some young guys get playing time and show they can play.”
Noxapater got the ball to start the game but threw an interception on the third play from scrimmage.
The Wolverines then went 45 yards in five plays and scored on a 5-yard touchdown pass to go up 7-0.
The Tigers strung together some first downs and put together a 10-play drive that stalled near midfield. East Webster then went 53 yards in four plays, scoring on a 24-yard quarterback keeper to go up 14-0.
The Tigers then went three and out and gave the Wolverines a short field. The Wolverines then scored on the next play on a 37-yard touchdown pass with 1:10 left in the first quarter for a 20-0 lead.
After a Noxapater three and out, East went 53 yards in four plays and scored on a 31-yard quarterback keeper with 9:10 left in the half for a 27-0 lead.
The Tigers put together their best drive of the game a pair of big runs as JyKavius Riddle went on runs of 25 and 46 yards to the East Webster 1. But the East Webster defense held to preserve the shutout.
The Wolverines then went 99 yards in 11 plays and scored on a 10-yard run with 2:18 left in the half to take a 33-0 halftime lead.
East Webster got the ball to start the second half and went 65 yards in five plays and scored on a 1-yard run with 9:48 left in the third to go up 40-0.
The Wolverines added another score for the final margin of 47-0.
On offense, Noxapater had 28 yards passing and 109 yards rushing for 127 yards of total offense. JyKavius Riddle led the rushing attack with 79 yards on six carries. A.J. Robertson had 16 yards on eight carries while Demarcus McCully had 15 yards on seven carries. Kaden Carter was 4-of-13 passing for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Riddle had three catches for all 28 yards.
East Webster rolled up 362 yards rushing with five backs with more than 45 yards. The Wolverines also had 130 yards passing for 492 yards of total offense.
On defense, Riddle led the Tigers with seven stops while Javien Carter, Chris Dale and T.K. Wilson each had four stops apiece. Andrew Herrington had three tackles while Davion Holmes and J’Cameron Riley each had two tackles apiece. Robertson, Jaylen Carter, Kaden Carter, Kameron Lewis, Cody Estes, Taylor Jones and Ryan Parker each had one tackle apiece.
