The Nanih Waiya baseball team picked up two big wins this past week in division play.
The Warriors swept a pair of games from Kemper County, beating the Wildcats 16-1 on Monday and 12-0 on Friday. The Warriors ended the week with a 9-1 loss to Ethel.
The Warriors are scheduled to return to division play this week as they play at Eupora on Tuesday and host the Eagles on Friday in their only scheduled games this week.
Nanih Waiya 16, Kemper County 1
The Warriors used a pair of seven-run innings to take a three-inning, run-rule win over the Wildcats in division play on Monday.
Kemper scored one in the top of the first while Nanih Waiya scored seven in the first, two in the second and seven more in the third.
Nanih Waiya outhit Kemper 12-3 in the contest. Braxton Flake had a big game, going 3-for-3 with a triple, home run, three runs scored and four RBIs. Aiden Hill was 2-for-2 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs while Austin Windle was 2-for-3 with a triple. Ked Moore doubled and drove in two runs while Bentley King walked twice and scored three runs. Eli Stanton doubled, walked twice and scored two runs. Gavin Daniel also homered and drove in two runs as the Warriors had eight extra base hits.
Tanner Courtney pitched all three innings and gave up just one run on three hits and a walk while striking out eight.
Nanih Waiya 12, Kemper County 0
The Warriors only gave up one hit and took a four-inning, shutout win over the Wildcats on Friday.
Nanih Waiya scored five in the first and third with single runs in the second and fourth.
Nanih Waiya had six hits and drew 12 walks in the contest. Tanner Courtney doubled, walked twice and scored two runs. Bentley King walked three times while Eli Stanton singled, walked twice and scored three runs. Ked Moore scored twice while Austin Hill also walked twice. Austin Windle, Walk McLendon and Gavin Daniel each had singles.
Hill started on the mound and pitched all four innings and gave up just one hit and one walk while striking out five.
Ethel 9, Nanih Waiya 1
The Warriors outhit the Tigers but managed only one run in an eight-run loss on Saturday.
Each team scored one in the second while Ethel scored three in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Nanih Waiya had 11 hits as Ked Moore was 2-for-4 with a double. Eli Stanton as 2-for-4 with Tanner Courtney and Gavin Daniel were each 2-for-3. Walt McLendon singled and drive in a run while Braxton Flake singled and scored.
Ked Moore started and pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up nine runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two. McLendon pitched the last 1 2/3 innings and gave up two hits and a walk.
