The Choctaw County Lady Chargers dropped two heartbreaking games to the Puckett Lady Wolves, after coming back and taking a win over the Pisgah Lady Dragons – the team the Lady Chargers fell to last season.
Lady Chargers 6, Lady Dragons 2
The Lady Chargers faced the Lady Dragons at the Glass after going 1-1. Everything rode on this time to be able to stay alive and make it to round three, and they made it count.
It was the Lady Chargers all game as they brought in two runs each in the second, third and fourth innings. At the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Dragons were able to bring in two of their own, but it wasn’t enough of a rally to fight back.
And the Lady Chargers defeated an achillies heel at home. At bat, Lexi Patterson and Mary Claire Salley led the Chargers with two RBIs each. Presley Scarbrough and Simmons Brooks added an RBI of their own, to bring the total to six.
On the mound, it was Mary Claire Salley who pitched all seven innings. Salley had seven hitters, two runs and four strikeouts.
Lady Chargers 4, Lady Wolves 10
After riding an amazing wave, the Lady Chargers refocused to face the Lady Wolves in Puckett. The Lady Chargers started off strong with two runs being scored in the first innng, but Puckett caught a wind in the third inning bringing in three and stretching the lead between the two to make 5-2. The Chargers answered in the fourth and fifth innings, putting it one run between the two with a score of 5-4. But, Puckett got another win in the top of the sixth and sealed the game, bringing in five runs.
For the Lady Chargers, Patterson again led the team with two RBIs with Brooks and Scarbrough adding an RBI each.
This game, Scarbrough was on the mound. She had 14 hitters, nine runs, and one strikeout.
Lady Chargers 3, Lady Wolves 6
Wounded, the Lady Chargers had to fight back in the Glass to push for a game three and a chance to redeem themselves as they faced a trip to South Half.
At home at the Glass, it was Puckett who jumped out to a lead bringing in two runs each in the first and second innings. The Lady Chargers were able to answer in the third, bringing in one run and in the fifth bringing in two more runs to make the score 4-3. But, as the last game, Puckett proved again they are clutch in the bottom when needed, bringing in two more runs in the sixth and the Lady Chargers were unable to push for the seventh inning, ending their season.
And, as with the two previous games, it was again Patterson leading the Chargers with two RBIs and Salley adding one more RBI for the Chargers.
