The Choctaw County track teams have experienced some highs this season. Both teams are the 2A Region 1 District 2 and 2A Region 1 Champions, a first for the school. And, going into state their Cinderella story continued. Although, they didn’t get as high as they liked at state.
They came back home with some hardware and a stamp that will forever be in the books.
Choctaw County’s Kami Beard is the 2A State Champion in the high jump, clearing a jump of 5-00. Beard also placed fourth in the pole vault clearing a vault of 7-00. Because of her performance, she was named a top performer by Capital Sports.
In the girls’ heats, Fannie Miller placed third in the 100 meter with a time of 12.88 and third in the 200 meter with a time of 26.02. Zanaiya Woodard placed eighth in the 100 meter hurdles. In the girls 4x1, the Choctaw County team consisting of Laila Woods, Aloria DeGroot, Fannie Miller and Zanaiya Woodard placed third in the state.
In the boys’ heats, Zabaius Miller placed fourth in the 100 meter with a time of 11:59 and seventh in the 200 meter with a time of 24.11
Trenaevius Liggins placed third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 43.20, and the boys 4x1 placed seventh with a time of 44.93, 4x2 placed sixth with a time of 1:34.55 and the 4x4 placed sixth with a time of 3:51.54.
In the discus, Hunter Holland placed fifth with a throw of 111-02 and Calvin Roberts placed fifth in the shotput with a throw of 39-11.50.
The girls finished fourth in the state and the boys finished in the top 10 in the state for 2A track.
