The Chargers and Lady Chargers saw their seasons come to a close as each traveled to Northeast Mississippi to respectively take of Alcorn Central High School and Booneville High School, before hosting both at the Glass.
Alcorn Central, 6, Chargers, 5
The Chargers got off to a good foot against the Golden Bears in Glen, Miss., but the Golden Bears fought back to take the win.
The Chargers got on the board with a single from Caleb McCulloch, who brought in Jeramiah Miller. At the top of the second, it was McCulloch again, this time bringing in Seth Miller and Za’baius Miller. And, in the top of the third, Jalon James was able to score on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the third, the Golden Bears began to fight back, making the score 4-1.
The Golden Bears kept battling back, getting the score within one point of the Chargers, 4-3. In the bottom of the fifth, the Golden Bears took over the lead, after capitalizing on a Charger error, moving around bases.
But, the Chargers were able to tie the score up again, after Seth Miller was able to capitalize on a Golden Bear error.
The Charger attempts to take back the lead of the game were thwarted by the Golden Bears defense and in the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Bears sealed up the game.
But, the Chargers weren’t completely out of it. They still had a chance at the Glass to push a game three.
However, with everything on the line, the Golden Bears were determined to take game two and it came down to who was hungrier.

The Chargers were shut out at the Glass with the Golden Bears taking the second game of the series. In the top of the first, the Golden Bears jumped out to a 4 point lead. And it was a downhill battle for the Chargers from there.
The Chargers were able to get some hits, move people around the bases, but couldn’t capitalize, ending the season.
Booneville, 2, Lady Chargers, 0
In the battle against Booneville, it was a pitcher’s duel as Lady Charger Presley Scarbrough threw seven strikeouts to Booneville’s Garrett throwing 18.
Even with the battle of the pitchers, the Lady Chargers defense only allowed two runs with Booneville getting seven hits off Scarbrough.
The Lady Devils two runs didn’t come until the bottom of the fifth, as it was a shut out for the majority of the game.
Booneville, 3, Lady Chargers, 1
The Lady Chargers met Booneville at the glass, where it was a similar story. A combination of Scarbrough and Mary Claire Salley only allowed two runs with the third coming off of an error, five hitters and the two struck out a total of eight. Salley struck out 6 and Scarbrough struck out two. Between the two only two walks were allowed, as it came down to another battle of the pitchers.
The Lady Chargers lone RBI came from Lexi Patterson in the bottom of the eighth, after she hit a line drive to right bringing in Jalia James, who was able to advance to third off of a wild pitch.
