In a regular meeting this past Monday, the Board of Supervisors dealt with an abbreviated agenda.
On Friday, April 17, Governor Tate Reeves extended the Shelter in Place order until April 27, howver the Supervisors did not need to take any action as the local State of Emergency is in effect until May 16.
The Board discussed the possibility of setting up a system to track responses and actions of the supervisors during severe weather and natural disasters, but no action was taken.
Chancery Clerk Steve Montgomery reminded the Board that they need to fill out the necessary paperwork to justify receipt of usage tax money by May 15. Choctaw County received in excess of $75K in January and Montgomery advised the Board that if the paperwork is not submitted they will not be eligible for future funds.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to renew the airport insurance policy at a cost ot $1.5K.
• Voted 5-0 to approve a refund from solid waste to Chris Potts for $154.
• Voted 5-0 to approve releasing solid waste adjustments.
• Voted 5-0 to approve a freeport warehouse exemption to Southeastern Timber Products for products that they are holding to be shipped.
The Choctaw County Board of Supervisors meet on the first and third Monday of each month at 9 a.m., however during the COVID-19 pandemic attendance is being limited.
