Brock, Local Editor]: J. H. Pierce is back at home from a visit to his sister, Mrs. D. J. Cummings, in Bromide, Okla. He was pleased with his trip and the country all right, but he returned home far better pleased with this country, declaring Mississippi the greatest place on earth. - Misses Katie Lou Holland and Nell Starnes made a flying visit to Maben on Tuesday. DANCY DOINGS [By BETSEY]: Farmers of Dancy seem to be making good use of these sunshiny days. Plowing can be seen in every direction. - We are glad to note that Dr. Slaughter is fast improving now. - Bro. Smith filled his regular appointment at Mt. Hope Sunday morning and Bro. Pass preached at Wake Forest in the afternoon. - Brady Cliett of Montpelier was up Sunday. - Modine Dalton has been very sick for the past week of typhoid fever. - Jeff Graham and sister, Miss Virgie of Pheba, attended church here Sunday. We are gratified to learn that Prof. Cooper’s health is improving since going to Maben. Prof. Cooper is greatly missed in the school, but his two able assistants are carrying on the work very successfully, considering they have the work of three teachers to do. - Miss Dova Slaughter has been home from Blue Mountain for two weeks, being called home to see the doctor when she was very sick. A FEW PHEBA FOLKS [By Bee Bee]: Miss Annie Rife spent Saturday and Sunday with friends in Starkville. - Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Franklin visited their daughter in Muldon the first of the week. - The many friends of Mr. Hop Spraggins extend to him their heartfelt sympathy in the loss of his mother, whose death occurred last Friday. - Misses Jordan and Wofford of Bell School House were Sunday night visitors. - Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Pulley and Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGee, all of West Point, spent Sunday with relatives and friends in our town. - Miss Bamma Bell spent a portion of last week with relatives in Longview. - Ernest Edington came out from West Point to spend Sunday with homefolks. - Mrs. Osborn of West Point is visiting the Cliett home this week. - Dr. A. A. Wofford of Starkville is doing dental work here this week. MANTEE MURMURINGS [By Ye Scribe]: Our school here closes on Thursday, March 31st. - On Wednesday night of March 30th will be given the closing concert, to which everybody is invited. Doors open at 7:30. - On the morning of March 31st there will be contests in running, jumping, and spelling among our school pupils only. In the afternoon of the same day there will be a ball game between the “Bullies” and “Billies.”
