A number of family members, friends, and law enforcement professionals gathered at Louisville Memorial Cemetery this past Sunday, to remember and honor the service of local, fallen law enforcement officers, Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Joe Clay, Louisville Police Dept. Reserve Officer Darrell Cooper, and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Hank McLeod. Louisville Police Chief Sean Holdiness welcomed those gathered, and Rev. Anthony Thames, pastor of Oak Grove M.B. Church offered words of comfort as he reflected upon The Gospel According to John 15:13, ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.’ The memorial service is observed each year to honor these local, fallen heroes, andmembers of Louisville Police Department., Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics are on hand to lay a wreath at the respective grave sites. Peace Officers Memorial Day is held annually in the United States in May in honor of federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. It is observed in conjunction with National Police Week.
