Manhunt Leads to Arrest
At around 5 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, March 31, Ackerman Police Department officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 170 West McGee Street.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that Dwight Holman had assaulted a female subject and had fled the scene with his two-month-old child. Holman drove north on Hwy. 15 and turned onto Vanfasson Road where he was spotted by a Choctaw County Sheriff’s Deputy, at which time Holman fled into the woods with the child.
A manhunt ensued involving personnel from Ackerman PD, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Dept., Clay County Sheriff’s Dept. K-9 Unit, and Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Dept. K-9 Unit.
A MHP drone was also used in the search. Ackerman Police Chief Tim Cook stated that there was great concern for the child with the temperature dropping into the 40s.
Holman and the child were located on Mabus Road at around 11 p.m. The child was transported to Choctaw Regional Medical Center as a precaution but was in good condition.
Holman was taken into custody with several misdemeanor charges including child neglect.
Fondren Held In Connection to Threadgill Homicide

On Thursday, March 19, Choctaw County Deputies were involved in a high-speed pursuit in which a deputy sustained minor injuries.
The driver, Stacy Fondren, 50, wrecked and abandoned the vehicle and was captured about two hours later and taken to the Choctaw County Jail where he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on officers and felony fleeing.
Subsequently, Fondren has been charged in connection with the homicide of Jimmy Threadgill whose body was discovered on January 29, by fishermen in a canal off the Big Black River in Montgomery County.
Anthony Cox was initially arrested in the Threadgill homicide and was placed under $1M bond.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has developed evidence linking Fondren to the murder, also. Fondren is being held under a $1M bond.
