The Webster County School Board has approved the hiring of a new principal at East Webster Elementary School. The board did so during a special meeting May 14, according to the minutes. Superintendent Brian Jones presented a personnel action form recommending Jennifer Carver be hired as principal of EWES effective July 1. She will succeed Kim Stallings, who is retiring. The board also approved the Learning-at-Home Summer Enrichment Plan upon Jones’ recommendation. May 11 During the regular monthly meeting May 11, minutes show the board approved these motions: • Approved Career and Technical Education assurances for FY2021. • Approved a request from Michael Adkins, director of the Webster County Career and Technology Center, to convert the Business Technology program to 2020 Business, Marketing and Finance at the WCCTC. • Approved Jones’ recommendation for Jim Keith to continue as board attorney for the 2020-21 school year. • Approved 2020-21 administrator and principal salaries. • Approved the hiring of Amanda Medine as a teacher at East Webster High School effective July 1. • Accepted a letter of resignation indicating that Sharon Tindall was resigning from her position as federal programs/special education secretary effective June 30. She is retiring. • Approved the hiring of Tina Clark as federal programs/special education secretary effective July 1. • Approved a revised personnel recommendation from Child Nutrition Director Amy Rollins for cafeteria managers, full- or part-time staff members and cafeteria substitutes. • Approved the hiring of Patsy Dean as a cafeteria substitute effective July 1. • Approved a recommendation from board President Bobby McMullen that Eupora High School Principal Adam Dillinger be appointed to recommend summer workers for his school for summer 2020. • Approved the hiring of these summer workers upon the recommendation of Dillinger and the superintendent: Reed Hale at EHS, Colby Burgess at EWES, Janri Jones at East Webster High School, Kimble Dillinger at Eupora Elementary School and Tyler Hodges at the bus shop/Career and Technology Center, all from May 16-July 31. • Approved two school lunch account refund requests. • Accepted a $1,652 donation from the EHS Lady Eagles Diamond Club to EHS Softball. Board members McMullen and Milton Davis were present in the boardroom May 11, with Jimmy Hood, Rana Mitchell and Marilyn Brown present via Zoom video. McMullen was present in the room May 14, with Brown and Davis attending the meeting via Zoom on May 14. Keith also attended both meetings via Zoom. The board also met June 8. A budget hearing is set for 5 p.m. July 20 followed by the regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m.
