The Nanih Waiya softball team got two big division wins last week.
The Lady Warriors swept two games from French Camp, beating the Lady Panthers 6-4 on Tuesday and 9-1 on Thursday.
Nanih Waiya improves to 9-7 on the season and will return to play this week with a two-game series with county rival Noxapater. Game 1 of the two-game series is at Noxapater while game 2 will be Thursday at Nanih Waiya. The Lady Warriors will then host Lake on Friday to round out the week.
Nanih Waiya 6, French Camp 4
The Lady Panthers outhit the Lady Warriors but dropped a two-run decision on Tuesday in division play.
French Camp scored three in the first while Nanih Waiya answered with two in the top of the second to tie the game. Nanih Waiya scored two in the top of the sixth and one in the seventh while French Camp added a single run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Lady Warriors had five hits but committed six errors while French Camp had four errors and walked five batters. Alyssa Price was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jade Chandler was 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Anna Grace Rigdon singled and drove in a run while Madelyn Vick scored two runs.
Addison Price pitched all seven innings for Nanih Waiya and gave up four unearned runs on nine hits and a walk, while striking out six.
Nanih Waiya 9, French Camp 1
The Lady Warriors broke open the game in the sixth inning and took an eight-run win on Thursday.
Nanih Waiya scored one in the thirdhand two in the fourth and led 3-0. French Camp scored one in the fifth while Nanih Waiya scored six runs in the sixth to take the win.
The Lady Warriors had nine hits and took advantage of eight errors by French Camp. Lexie Cowart was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Jade Chandler was 2-for-4 with a double as well. Carlee Presley singled, scored twice and had two RBIs. Bria Gregory and Addison Price each singles while Amelia Gully and Anna Grace Rigdon each scored a run.
