The visiting Lady Warriors of Nanih Waiya broke a 3-3 tie by scoring four times in the fourth, then added two in the sixth inning to take a region-clinching 8-3 win over French Camp Academy on Monday night.
“The win last night was big for us. It’s been since 2016 since we won the district championship,” said NW head coach Cody Parkes. “I’m extremely proud of the hard work and how far we have come. Of course, we have to try to treat it just like another win and keep playing hard.”
The win thrusted Nanih Waiya into first place and gave the Lady Warriors a No 1 seed headed into the MHSAA Class 1A Softball Playoffs.
Natalee Eaves had a huge game for the winners on Monday, crushing a triple and two singles, while scoring four times and driving in a pair of runs. Carlee Presley had a double and single and an RBI for NW, with Addison Price mashing a triple and driving in a pair of runs.
Dailyn Nance had two hits and two runs scored, while Mackenzie Eaves also had a hit and RBI.
Gillion Eaves, Addison Price and Morgan Mills each pitched for NW in the game, allowing a combined four hits and one earned run, while striking out six.
In games last week NW beat Starkville Christian 15-2, Choctaw County 6-2 and 14-2 and Winona 16-5.
This week NW was set to visit East Webster on Tuesday, before beginning the playoffs next Monday and Tuesday.
Nance had a double, two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored from the lead-off spot to lead NW against Starkville Christian, while Natalee Eaves, tripled, singled, scored twice and drove in three runs.
Carlee Presley and Morgan Mills each singled, while Presley had three RBIs and Mackenzie Eaves, Skylar Eaves, and Hayley Rogers scored twice each.
Nanih Waiya had 10 hits in the 6-2 win over Choctaw County with Natalee Eaves and Nance crushing a homer and single each. Morgan Mills had a double and single for NW, while Price, Mackenzie Eaves, Skylar Eaves, and Gillion Eaves each singled.
Game two against CCHS saw the Lady Warriors score at least two runs in each of the five innings played on the way to the run-rule win.
Mills tripled, doubled and drove in three runs for Nanih Waiya in the game, while Nance, Natalee Eaves, Price, Mackenzie Eaves, Presley, and Gillion Eaves each singled. Natalee Eaves scored three runs and drove in two, while Presley had two RBIs.
Friday’s win over Winona saw the Lady Warriors scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 5-5 tie and post the run-rule win.
Nance and Natalee Eaves had a double and single each for NW in the win, while Mills doubled and Price, Presley and Gillion Eaves each had singles.
Price drove in three runs for the Lady Warriors, while Nance, Natalee Eaves, Presley, and Gillion Eaves had two each and Nance scored three times.
